After two decades away from our screens, is back with a four-episode comeback special on Hulu. finds its central protagonist seemingly at peace with his adult life, until his family comes calling with a reunion event on the horizon.
Ever since the news of first broke, fans of the original series have been excited to see which of the show’s stars return, and who else has been added to its cast. There are three brand-new main characters and one prominent recasting for longtime viewers to scrutinize.
Nevertheless, while some previous cast members are sadly no longer with us, and one of the sitcom’s main stars has chosen not to participate in this comeback, most of the faces we see will be very familiar to us. Five out of the six original lead actors are back, slipping straight into their roles as though they’d never been away.
Even though last aired a new episode, surprisingly little has changed. There’s a new generation of family members, but the same old dysfunctions still form a central pillar of the show’s timeless comedy and popular appeal.

Actor: Caleb Ellsworth-Clark is the only new cast member playing an original member of Malcolm’s family, after original Dewey actor . In Ellsworth-Clark, however, the show has found a perfect match for the child Dewey’s physical characteristics as an adult.
Hailing from Calgary in Canada, Ellsworth-Clark has featured in TV Westerns like Hell on Wheels, Wynonna Earp and Joe Pickett, as well as playing Vedasto in Prime Video’s sci-fi masterpiece The Expanse. He’s also around the same age we’d expect Dewey to be, 20 years on from Malcolm in the Middle’s last season.

Life’s Still Unfair could well serve as Murrae’s big career break, though they’ve already featured in the Sundance film Before I Change My Mind, and Apple TV’s Ghostwriter.
