More Taylor Sheridan is coming to Netflix.
Sheridan remains one of the busiest people working in the world of TV, creating the for Paramount. He is also known for his work on a handful of other series, including the likes of Lioness, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown. Though these shows have continued for multiple seasons, one of Sheridan's grittiest TV ventures remains a one-season Western, which is now about to move streamers.
Following its airing in 2026, Lawmen: Bass Reeves is now poised to come to Netflix on June 1, per . The show will be available on the streamer in the U.S., the UK, and most international regions. While Sheridan is billed as the creator of many shows on his resume, Bass Reeves hails from creator Chad Feehan, with Sheridan serving as an executive producer.
Consisting of eight episodes, Bass Reeves chronicles the exploits of the titular American lawman, one of the first Black deputy U.S. Marshals west of the Mississippi River. David Oyelowo plays Reeves in the series, with a supporting cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Donald Sutherland, Shea Whigham, Garrett Hedlund, Barry Pepper, and Demi Singleton, among others.

In addition to a strong critical reception, Bass Reeves was also a viewership hit for Paramount+. The first two episodes amassed 7.5 million views across Paramount+ and CBS in their first seven days of availability. This strong viewership suggests it could end up being a major draw on Netflix next month.
Despite finding success with viewers, there's been no official movement on . Still, Oyelowo expressed enthusiasm about returning to the role in an last year, saying:
The more people ask for more Lawmen: Bass Reeves, the sooner it'll happen, I think. I loved, loved, loved playing that role. To saddle up again is something I'm open to, so you never know.
It's unclear if more Bass Reeves will happen, but Sheridan remains highly active in the TV space. He executive produces Marshals, the new Yellowstone sequel show about Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), and he created The Madison, a spinoff. is already confirmed to be in the works, as is another season of Marshals.
Sheridan is also an accomplished feature film screenwriter and is currently attached to write the script for the upcoming Call of Duty movie.
On top of those projects, Sheridan serves as an executive producer on Dutton Ranch, the upcoming sequel show about Yellowstone characters Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser). This show marks a reunion between Sheridan and Feehan, the latter of whom created the series. Reports recently emerged, however, stating Feehan has left the show prior to its May 15 premiere, with claims that there was friction between him and the lead cast members.
There may not be any immediate plans for more Lawmen: Bass Reeves, but availability on Netflix will open up the series to a whole new audience in the U.S. and elsewhere. It's possible that strong viewership on this new platform could help move the needle on more episodes.
