One of the stars of The First Purge reveals if he would ever return to the horror franchise in .

In an interview with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns for Nemesis, Y'Lan Noel admitted that he had "some initial conversations" with The Purge creator James DeMonaco about reprising his role as Dmitri Cimber from The First Purge, but nothing ever materialized, and there haven't been any recent discussions. However, Noel would definitely be interested in coming back, saying, "That's another conversation that I would not be unwilling to have."

Noel added that Frank Grillo's performance as Sgt. Leo Barnes, in the second and third films, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year, was "part of the reason I decided to sign up to be a part of that franchise." Grillos is "such a physical actor," and Noel has always appreciated that "he's really a fighter."

"I remember there was some initial conversations that we'd had, nothing recently though. It's cool. It's actually news to me that Frank Grillo and them are cooking up stuff. I really like him. And he was a part of the reason I decided to sign up for to be a part of that franchise, just seeing him [in the second and third ones]. He's just such a physical actor and he's just really cool. And the fact that he's really a fighter, I've always really appreciated that. But yeah, that's another conversation that I would not be unwilling to have."

Before The First Purge, Noel was best known for his role as Daniel King in the first three seasons of the HBO series Insecure. After starring in the horror film, the actor went on to appear in movies like Slice, The Weekend, and The Photograph, the AppleTV show Lady in the Lake, and the video games Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

His latest project is an eight-episode crime drama called Nemesis, which was just released on Netflix on May 14 and currently has an 89% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film, which grossed $137 million, followed the same premise of a totalitarian government that makes crime legal once every year. In The First Purge, Noel's character, Dmitri, is a gang kingpin from Staten Island who becomes a massive target and is forced to fend off attackers during the Purge.
