For Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med, that means that NBC is beginning to end certain storylines while also planting plot seeds that will eventually payoff during the 2026-2027 TV cycle. Luckily, all shows have already been renewed by NBC ahead of their respective finales, which means that showrunners and writers have enough time to craft appropriate year-enders. , Chicago PD season 13, and Chicago Med season 11 are not airing new episodes tonight, April 15, 2026, as part of NBC's way of stretching out the shows' respective runs. Officially confirmed for 21 episodes each, taking this break allows them to slot down their finales in mid-May, which likely coincides with the so-called sweeps week — a period which determines the advertisement rates for network TV for the rest of the year. Given where things are at in the 2026-2026 network TV run, this is the final hiatus of the Chicago shows before the year officially wraps up.
