It was back in 2018 that The Elder Scrolls VI was first announced, alongside that brief teaser trailer that we now all have etched into the back of our eyelids. However, with no other official information, teasers or trailers since then, we were all pretty unsurprised when head Todd Howard recently admitted that the highly anticipated entry . With the last The Elder Scrolls entry, , first being released way back in 2011, it is no wonder that fans are starting to feel disheartened by the lack of content, and with The Elder Scrolls VI still receiving no release window, it seems that we are in for the long run yet again.

However, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel thanks to recent news that was shared on the official Xbox news page. Courtesy of Asha Sharma and Matt Booty, detailed all the plans that the company has in store for the future of the Xbox brand.

From the beginning, Xbox was built by people willing to try things that others wouldn’t. We placed a consumer bet inside an enterprise company because we believed gaming would define the living room, and we were at risk of missing it.

With plans to focus on pricing, especially for its , which has received extortionate price increases in recent years, as well as aims to focus on the social aspect of gaming, it seems as though Sharma, who is the new chief executive officer of Xbox, has big plans. However, what does this mean for major franchises such as The Elder Scrolls, and more specifically, The Elder Scrolls VI?

Well, towards the end of the news post, talk soon turned to the next era of Xbox gaming with a focus reportedly set to be on "creator-centric platforms like Minecraft, The Elder Scrolls, and Sea of Thieves." As you can imagine, the inclusion of The Elder Scrolls immediately caught the attention of fans here, especially when referring to the future in particular. As such, users soon took to to discuss what this could mean, with one post reading, "What do you guys think this means? I really don't know what this could mean, maybe spin-offs? As you can imagine, a discussion soon began. "I have no idea, but any love that TES gets from the execs is good by me," one comment read, whilst another user simply posted a GIF of the viral The Office US moment where Michael Scott shouts, "Oh my god! It's happening!" moment. However, it seems as though there is a simple reason for Xbox's The Elder Scrolls inclusion: mods. "Could be about the Creation Club for Skyrim or maybe even adding it to the (though I'd say that's too late at this point), but let's be real TESVI is coming out within the next 5-year period," one user explained. "They are obviously going to continue to use the Creation Club. It's clearly been a successful revenue stream that they will continue to use."
