will honor the show's original plan with season 5.

Ahead of the , it was announced that the show had been renewed and that it would be the final season. The penultimate season has already begun to answer some of the sci-fi horror show's longest-running mysteries as it heads into the endgame and explores the true evil that is behind the trapped residents' suffering.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender for From season 4, actor Julie Cheramy reveals that she did not learn the series was ending with season 5 until the announcement was publicly shared. However, she confirms that the plan was always for the show to be five seasons, and she is grateful that this will now become a reality. Check out her comments below:

I knew that From would end in season 5 about two weeks ago when it was announced. We always knew that five seasons was the goal, but you never know if you're going to be blessed with being able to finish and conclude your own story. We are very, very, very fortunate to be able to do so, because it's very common these days that you have amazing shows that are canceled after season 1. So we're really fortunate.

Since the series debuted in 2026, it has gained more recognition with each season, and has become the most watched series in the history of MGM+. While many other mystery box shows have been prematurely canceled and left viewers with unresolved questions, From has continually been renewed and will now get to deliver on its five-season plan.

The many of the biggest mysteries, including the meaning behind the bottle tree numbers, what was growing inside Fatima Hassan (Pegah Ghafoori), the meaning of the word "Anghkooey," and how the nocturnal monsters were created. The end of season 3 also introduces the Man in Yellow (Douglas E. Hughes), a terrifying and essential villain whose presence is answering more questions and setting up the story's final stages.

When it comes to getting answers, Cheramy's character, Julie Matthews, has also become a pivotal character. , or to travel through time, provides new insight into the dark history of the Township, even though she is unable to change the past. Four episodes into season 4, Julie is focused on how she can use storywalking to go back and stop her father, Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey), from being killed, but her unique power may have far larger implications.

Other key include Julie's mother, Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno), Julie's brother, Ethan (Simon Webster), Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau), Jade Herrera (David Alpay), and Randall Kirkland (A.J. Simmons). Julie has enlisted Randall to help with her storywalking pursuits, all while Ethan searches for the Lake of Tears, Jade and Tabitha find new answers from their past lives in the Township, and Boyd tries to keep everything from falling apart. This season also introduces Sophia (Julia Doyle), a pastor's daughter who is actually the Man in Yellow in a disguised form.

From was created by John Griffin, who is an executive producer alongside Jeff Pinkner, Jack Bender, and Perrineau. Pinker serves as the showrunner and Bender is one of the show's most frequent directors. Perrineau, Pinker, and Bender all previously worked on Lost, which From has drawn many comparisons to, not only because of the overlapping creatives, but because of the mystery box storytelling, similar themes, and the premise of characters trapped in a supernatural setting.
