The next live-action version of Shaggy brings the character's classic look to life in the upcoming series for Netflix.

Production is underway on the live-action Scooby-Doo reboot, as the cast is currently busy filming in Atlanta, Georgia. Following the first look at the stars together as their respective characters, shared new set photos featuring Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers donning his famous green shirt. The actor was spotted shooting a scene with an unidentified cast member outside a building that could potentially be his home or a location related to school.

While they haven't been spotted yet, the cast also stars , Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones. The live-action adaptation comes from showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, with Scooby-Doo: Origins season 1 set to consist of eight episodes. Principal photography is expected to last until September, according to , meaning there is still plenty of time for more set photos to emerge.

According to Netflix, Scooby-Doo: Origins will explore how Mystery Incorporated came to be, following the four icons at summer camp, where they begin to investigate a "supernatural murder." That is where the famous talking Great Dane dog comes into play, as he has potentially witnessed said event. After having voiced the beloved dog in numerous animated projects, Frank Welker will voice Scooby in the Netflix adaptation.

Paul Walter Hauser has officially been tapped for a big mystery role in Scooby-Doo: Origins. According to rumors, he is playing Scooby's owner, which would fit with the show's origin story aspect. The Netflix TV show will tackle , while also establishing how they come to be friends with Freddy and Velma.

Scooby-Doo: Origins is being executive produced by Greg Berlanti, who is no stranger to bringing iconic franchises to life, with a modern spin on them. Not only has he had several successes on Netflix with properties like You, but Berlanti also launched the Arrowverse on The CW, bringing numerous DC heroes to the small screen. His production company also handled Riverdale, a grittier take on the Archie Comics universe.

While this is the first live-action series, the Netflix adaptation will be one of that have come before it. The reboot is also coming at a time when Netflix is looking to fill the void with other long-time mystery shows that have recently concluded, and given the IP's legacy, Scooby-Doo: Origins could become a massive hit for several seasons on the popular streaming platform.

Once the show gets further into filming, more details will likely be revealed about the story, as well as other characters that may be coming to life from the animated franchise. At the time of this article's publication, Scooby-Doo: Origins has yet to get a release date on Netflix.
