Rather than breaching Rockstar directly, ShinyHunters apparently gained access to authentication tokens in Anodot's system, allowing them to access Rockstar's data with legitimate credentials.
Hackers Threaten To Release Rockstar Data
While plenty of GTA 6 fans are eager to hear any news about the game, the ShinyHunters breach isn't likely to be the kind of leak that fans want. Rather than material from the game itself, ShinyHunters presumably has access to corporate data like financial records and contracts. This could still tease certain aspects of the upcoming game, but the fallout for Rockstar would likely only complicate the run-up to the release of GTA 6.
As for consumer risks, The Cyber Sec Guru reports that "there's no evidence so far that individual player passwords or payment details were accessed," but recommends taking this as a sign to enable two-factor authentication on accounts.
