Recent rumors of upcoming remasters from Rockstar Games have fans and fans of the company's other games split over what they want to see from the company. Now, this wouldn't be the first time that Rockstar has decided to remaster some of their iconic games, so these rumors are believable enough. That said, if these rumors are true, we can only hope they do a better job than with the .
Rumors of an upcoming Rockstar remaster stem from a job posting on the company's which states that applicants would be "taking responsibility for one or more classic game technology areas." Asking a new employee to take responsibility over old game tech would suggest that Rockstar Games is looking to update some of their older games. Speculation surrounding what games on social media has revealed what some players hope to see if these projects are real.
In a thread by user KekanKok discussing these rumors, players have been vocal about which older Rockstar Games titles they'd like to see get a remaster. With the Grand Theft Auto series being such a major hit for the company, it isn't surprising to see many fans calling for a remaster of GTA 4. User also suggested the company should "Remaster GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas again and this time do it right," since "Fans are not happy with what we got last time."
Of course, Rockstar has a decent-sized library of beloved games, so GTA isn't the only franchise players want to see get an update. posted that they'd like to see Max Payne 3 remastered, and there were plenty of enthusiastic replies backing up this suggestion. I saw mentions of Max Payne 1 and 2 in the thread, but it's important to remember that those games were not developed by Rockstar Games, but Remedy, who have already announced .
Meanwhile, 's plea of "BULLY PLEASE" garnered over 100 likes, and their sentiment was echoed by several other posters both in replies and in the original thread. While the original Bully was already remastered in the Bully: Scholarship Edition, that version of the game came out all the way back in 2008. Seeing as it's been , and 18 since the first remaster, it has likely been long enough for Rockstar to give the game another pass.
Aside from the aforementioned titles, Rockstar would likely get a lot of support for remasters of the original Red Dead Redemption or its detective game L.A. Noire. Having a big list of fan-favorite games isn't a bad problem to have for the company, though it does make trying to speculate on which one will be getting a possible remaster a bit more difficult. Still, even if it is just another attempt at remastering some classic GTA games, I'm sure fans will be excited, so long as the company gets it right this time.
