Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Following the release of , it’s become very clear that Nintendo has the perfect opportunity to develop a massive Super Smash Bros. crossover movie at some point in the future. Having debuted key characters from the Super Mario franchise as well as other notable Nintendo franchises, there's already an impressive roster of fighters from the original games who've since been introduced in feature films or shows.
Below you can find a list of all the revealed Super Smash Bros. characters who've appeared in a major movie or series over the last few years (or soon will). While it shouldn't come as a huge surprise, over half of these contenders made their debut in 2026's The Super Mario Bros. Movie or the .
Regardless of whether they're part of Nintendo's Super Mario franchise or beyond from a different video game series, here are all the revealed movie/TV characters we know of who could be in a potential Super Smash Bros. crossover movie at some point in the future.
This list will primarily include confirmed characters who've been directly depicted on screen in a major movie or show in recent years (or in the near future), rather than just Easter eggs and/or references.
Mario
The "nucleus" of Nintendo's growing cinematic universe, Mario would more than likely be a central protagonist in a possible Super Smash Bros. crossover. Voiced by Chris Pratt, the movie franchise's take on the classic hero has been well-received since Mario's debut in 2026.
Luigi
There have been hopes that Nintendo will eventually announce a spin-off feature for Charlie Day's Luigi, the predominant call being for a project inspired by the games. While nothing has been confirmed for Mario's green-clad brother just yet, one can imagine that Luigi would also receive an invitation to join a Super Smash Bros. crossover movie.
Princess Peach
In both Super Mario movies, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) has proven she’s far more than a classic damsel in distress. Likewise, The Super Mario Galaxy movie in particular highlights Peach's signature fighting skills, and many of her movies are nods to the Super Smash Bros. games, including her parasol, "Peach Bomber" side attack, and even the classic turnip.
Yoshi
Making his debut in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Donald Glover voices the lovable green dinosaur Yoshi, another classic member of the Super Smash Bros. roster who will more than likely be featured in future Nintendo projects going forward. The new Super Mario Galaxy Movie features Yoshi's signature "flutter jump" more than once, a move that definitely comes in handy when attempting to stay on the stage in The Super Smash Bros. games.
Bowser
A primary antagonist in both Super Mario movies, Jack Black's Bowser would more than likely be featured in a Super Smash Bros. crossover movie. Likewise, his initial willingness to work alongside Mario and Luigi in the first half of the Super Mario Galaxy movie proves he would likely agree to a temporary truce in the face of some bigger threat (like Master Hand).
Bowser Jr.
Voiced by Benny Safdie, Bowser Jr. is the main villain in The Super Mario Galaxy movie. Seeing how he's similarly armed with both his paintbrush from Super Mario Sunshine and his iconic Koopa clown car, Bowser Jr. would also make a great addition to a Super Smash Bros. movie roster.
Rosalina & Luma
Debuting in The Super Mario Galaxy movie, Princess Rosalina is voiced by Brie Larson. Caring for all of her Lumas on the Comet Observatory, it's not hard to imagine the Super Mario movies' latest princess joining in a larger crossover, especially after that Rosalina and Princess Peach are sisters.
Princess Daisy
Featured in , Princess Daisy is now part of Nintendo's expanding cinematic universe as well, shown protecting travelers in the Gateway Galaxy. Debuting as a major tease for future projects, one could imagine that Princess Peach's best friend and Luigi's primary love interest would be included in a Super Smash Bros. crossover as well. After all, she is Princess Peach's Echo Fighter in the games.
Piranha Plant
Featured in both Super Mario movies, Piranha Plant was one of the first post-launch DLC fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Donkey Kong
Voiced by Seth Rogen in 2026's Super Mario Bros. movie and having a small cameo in The Super Mario Galaxy movie, Donkey Kong would have to be included in a Super Smash Bros. crossover movie. After all, he's one of the game franchise's original fighters from the N64.
